Technology

The technology behind this project is hardware provided by Phidgets. Phidgets provide easy prototyping and super fast developing. Even though phidget should not be used in a finished product it works fine in this early stage.

The SmartDoor consists of an electronic locking system that uses RFID to recognize who is entering and leaving your home. An LCD screen and some simple sensors makes it possibility to display relevant information to the persons in the close proximity an makes the expansion possibilities of this project endless.

Connectivity

The current system only features a simple webpage for managing RFID tags and persons a that is allowed to enter through the door. This allows your to see who can enter your home, add people to enter so you dont need to go home from work and let them in.

Situation Awereness

The door is aware of outdoor temperatures to warn if its cold or hot outside. The door is also aware of the brightness and have possibilities to control the lights in the hallway for an example.
